Support School Libraries

From ALA:

Currently, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions are preparing to reach an agreement on the reauthorization of Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). The provisions included in ESEA through the Every Child Achieves Act would support effective school library programs. The American Library Association ask for your support in encouraging  reauthorization of ESEA with the school library provisions adopted by the HELP Committee and the full Senate under S. 1177, the Every Child Achieves Act.

YALSA Badges for Learning Program

YALSA has launched its Badges for Learning program: seven (7) micro-credentials that align with YALSA’s seven Competences for Librarians Serving Youth. Badges for Learning offers free professional development where librarians and library workers earn a micro-credential by completing lessons that enable individuals to develop skills they need to successfully work with teens. The badge linked to each micro-credential can be used on resumes, in social spaces and to demonstrate expertise to colleagues, administrators and current and potential employers. For information about other YALSA e-learning opportunities, please visit: http://www.ala.org/yalsa/onlinelearning.
